L’EST London presents drawings made by 42 artists, which confront the spectator with diverse propositions and obsessions, and highlight the privately subversive, codified nature of the medium
Egocentric microcosms collide haphazardly
with each other, forming temporary associations, and in doing so stir a vague
notion of communality and belonging. 'Republic' underlines this duality, a
movement towards an expanding dialogue stifled by the very privacy of its
language. These drawings constitute ongoing psychological maps, from the outset
conceived to form affectations rather than an actual terrain, thereby remaining
compellingly disruptive, unsettling and unresolved.
